Linda Szymanski

Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Shell Oil Company

Linda M. Szymanski, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Shell Oil Company, serves as General Counsel Upstream Americas and Head of Shell Legal in the U.S.  She oversees legal services to Shell’s upstream operations in the Americas, and holds positions on both the Global Legal Leadership Team and the Upstream Americas Leadership Team.  Prior to her current position which she assumed in April 2014, Linda held various positions within Shell Oil Company in the US including Chemicals Legal Managing Counsel and other senior legal roles in the labor/employment, litigation, and commercial practice areas.  Her most recent role was in The Hague in The Netherlands serving as the Royal Dutch Shell plc’s Group Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer where she oversaw the Shell Group’s compliance with and conclusion of its Deferred Prosecution Agreement.  Other roles she held in The Hague included acting as the RDS plc Executive Committee Secretary & Assistant to the CEO/US and Mexico International Directorate Advisor and, prior to that, as the Assistant to the Legal Director and Secretary to the RDS plc Audit Committee.

Linda graduated with a BBA in International Business and Economics and received her Juris Doctor from the University of Houston School of Law, where she served as Book Editor for the Houston Journal of International Law.  She joined Shell in 1995.

Linda and her husband Paul live in Katy, Texas with their twins, Grady and Claire.
