AUSTIN, Texas (Mar. 18, 2024) — As the Center for Women in Law (CWIL) enters its 15th year and prepares for its 2024 Women’s Power Summit, Executive Director Veronica Vargas Stidvent announced that she will step down this year as the Center readies its process to develop its next strategic plan.
AUSTIN, TEXAS (Dec. 1, 2023) –The Center for Women in Law is grateful for the leadership and service of former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, the first woman to serve on our country’s highest court.
As the first female appointee to the U.S. Supreme Court, Justice O’Connor quickly became a symbol of the experiences of so many women in the legal profession. The Center honors her life and legacy.
This fall at the Center for Women in Law we kick off a third year of programming and fundraising centered around the life and legacy of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her husband, Marty Ginsburg. Launched in 2021, the Center’s Ginsburg Initiative honors the couple’s lifelong commitment to gender equality, serving to inspire present and future generations of leaders.
Accelerate Career Start is the Center for Women in Law’s program aimed at improving the retention of first-year lawyers and strengthening the pipeline to partnership and leadership positions as lawyers embark on their careers.
That’s especially important during a time when women are entering the legal profession in equal numbers as their male counterparts but leave the profession at higher rates than men.
