Vicki Land specializes in environmental and real estate litigation. She has been lead trial and appellate counsel in numerous environmental, real estate, land use, eminent domain and inverse condemnation cases, as well as having been lead counsel in a broad variety of business, unfair competition, trade secret and employment litigation.

Ms. Land began her career in Washington, D.C. at Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering (now WilmerHale). She moved to Los Angeles in 1979 to practice at O’Melveny & Myers, and was for many years a senior litigation partner at Brown Winfield Canzoneri & Abram before joining King Cheng Miller & Jin LLP in 2009.

Ms. Land graduated cum laude from The University of Texas School of Law in 1976. She was a Note and Comment Editor of the Texas Law Review in 1975-1976, and was a member of the Order of the Coif.

She is a Founder of the Center for Women in Law and has been a member of the Law School’s Alumni Association Executive Committee (2007-2013). She was a 1972 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Houston, where she received a B.A. in Economics and was a member of Mortar Board. She is admitted to all California federal and state courts, as well as the United States Supreme Court. She has been a member of the Board of Governors of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles (1985-1988 and 1993-1997) and Chair of the Trial Lawyers Section (1987-1988). For several years through 2010 she has also been the Chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Condemnation and Land Valuation Committee.

Noteworthy cases have included being lead trial counsel in City of Monterey Park v. Aerojet General Corp., et al in the Central District of California (multi-party CERCLA environmental litigation); lead trial and appellate counsel in NJD, Ltd. v. City of San Dimas, 110 Cal.App.4th 1428 (2003) (successful defense of regulatory inverse condemnation, Federal Civil Rights Act case); trial counsel for Lockheed in Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority v. Lockheed Martin Corp. (eminent domain and environmental litigation, $100+ million judgment for Lockheed), and trial and appellate counsel in Lake Nacimiento Ranch Co. v. County of San Luis Obispo, 841 F.2d 872 (9th Cir. 1988) (successful defense of regulatory inverse condemnation case).
