Announcing 2024-2025 Center for Women in Law Fellowship

The Center for Women in Law is pleased to announce the Wayne B. Duddlesten, Sr./Center for Women in Law Endowment for Excellence Fellowship for the 2024-2025 academic year. This Fellowship was established by the Wayne B. Duddlesten Foundation to support law students of high academic achievement with a preference given to individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing women’s leadership.  The recipient of this scholarship will be referred to as the Duddlesten Fellow and expected to intern with the Center for Women in Law during the academic year.  (This will be a paid internship of 5-10 hours per week.)

The Duddlesten Fellowship will provide a $6,000 scholarship for one 2L or 3L law student with a demonstrated academic achievement and commitment to advancing women’s leadership. This includes legal work in nonprofit, pro bono, government, and/or legislative settings. 

The Center for Women in Law is a national resource and champion for women lawyers, generating lasting change within the legal profession.  We envision a legal profession that exemplifies equality and justice for all.  Founded in 2009 by women lawyers seeking to help future generations, the Center for Women in Law has had tremendous impact since its launch. We are actively seeking applicants who are interested in the Center’s strategic objectives:

  • Advocating for systemic change in the legal profession;

  • Supporting multiple paths to success for women pursuing legal careers at all levels;

  • Empowering and encouraging women lawyers to confidently build, navigate and advance their careers; 

  • Celebrating the strength of individuals and the power of community to change the legal field;

  • Building relationships and networks to support women lawyers; and

  • Cultivating a pipeline of advocates.

 

This fellowship will be awarded based on: 

  1. Academic achievement 

  2. Commitment to advancing women's issues and gender parity

  3. Involvement in student organizations and interest in promoting women at the law school and alignment with the Center's strategic objectives

The Duddlesten Fellow will be expected to work 5-10 hours per week at the Center for Women in Law.
