The University of Texas at Austin President Bill Powers recognized CWIL Founding Members Linda Addison and Martha E. Smiley with a Presidential Citation in a ceremony on April 16, 2015. The Presidential Citation is the highest award given by the University. The University does not award honorary degrees, and the Presidential Citation is “designed to salute those whose service exemplifies the values shared by the university community and who have helped the institution to achieve its mission.”

Linda L. Addison graduated with a BA cum laude in the Plan II Honors Program at UT and attended UT Law School, where she served as the first female managing editor of the Texas Law Review. Currently, she is US Managing Partner of Norton Rose Fulbright, a member of Norton Rose Fulbright’s Global Executive Committee, and Chair of the US Management Committee. In 2013, Linda was awarded the Texas Exes’ Distinguished Alumnus Award for her work on behalf of the University of Texas.

Martha E. Smiley, also an alumni of The University of Texas School of Law, is a counsel to the firm of Enoch Kever PLLC’s administrative, energy, public law and appellate practice. Founder of Grande Communications, Martha has been Vice Chair of The University of Texas System Board of Regents and has served on the boards of the SafePlace Foundation, The Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, and the Austin Area Research Organization (AARO). Additionally, she serves on the Advisory Board of the Lozano Long Institute for Latin American Studies and was a recent president of the Longhorn Foundation.

CWIL congratulates Linda and Martha on this prestigious award.
