Catherine Nathan, based in Washington and formerly in New York, is a lawyer and former leader of Spencer Stuart’s Legal, Compliance & Regulatory Search Practice (LCR). Since entering search, Catherine has built a national reputation by leading general counsel searches in diverse industries for many of the nation’s most important corporations including AIG, Amgen, Bechtel, Boeing, Hewlett-Packard, Mars, Medtronic, Pfizer, Procter & Gamble, Raytheon, Sprint and UnitedHealth. She has also led major nonprofit general counsel searches for the University of Chicago, Ford Foundation, Georgetown University, New York Public Library and Yale University among others. For six years after law school, Catherine practiced law with two Wall Street law firms, Chadbourne & Parke and Patterson, Belknap, Webb & Tyler. She earned her law degree from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California at Berkeley, and her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
