Leslie A. Goldman

Managing Director, In-House Practice Group, Major, Lindsey & Africa

Ms. Goldman, a Managing Director with Major, Lindsey & Africa’s In-House Practice Group, is retained by companies to recruit chief legal officers, chief compliance officers, deputy GCs and other senior in-house attorneys. In addition, she collaborates with her colleagues in the global executive search firm Allegis Partners, an affiliate of Major, Lindsey within the Allegis Group family of talent management companies, to identify high potential attorneys who have a desire for board service.

Prior to joining Major, Lindsey & Africa, Ms. Goldman spent almost 10 years as Vice President and General Counsel for (i) Fisher HealthCare, the largest provider of diagnostic products to the U.S. clinical market; (ii) Athena Diagnostics, a provider of proprietary genetic testing; and (iii) Fisher Chemicals, a global chemical manufacturer and packager. In these roles, Ms. Goldman served as part of the senior leadership teams and managed the legal function of each of these Thermo Fisher Scientific businesses. Prior to her tenure with Thermo Fisher, Ms. Goldman spent six years as a senior in-house attorney for Waste Management, based in Houston, Texas. Ms. Goldman began her career in large law firms, starting in New York City with Proskauer Rose as a corporate/securities associate and then moving to Houston to join Vinson & Elkins’ transactional healthcare group. She later practiced at Mayor, Day, Caldwell & Keeton prior to its merger with Andrews Kurth.

Ms. Goldman is intentional in her focus on diversity in the C-Suite and she ensures that her research for a client produces a slate of diverse candidates for all positions. She coaches both the client and the candidate – the client to understand the difficulty in overcoming the potential for unconscious bias when interviewing candidates and the candidate to understand the needs of the client.  She loves to speak to, and create events for, diverse groups on career development issues, particularly with respect to both the advancement of the members of these groups to the C-Suite and Board and the advancement of female entrepreneurs.

Ms. Goldman’s currently serves as Chairman of Pheramor, Inc, as a board member of KidSave Houston and the Yale Club of Houston, and as member of the Advisory Board of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Texas TriCities Chapter.  She is also a member of the ADT Society of United Way Houston and a sponsor of DirectWomen, Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commercer (GHWCC), Center for Women in Law, NACD, Emerge Houston, Breakthrough Houston and other non-profit organizations.

Ms. Goldman holds a B.A. from Yale University, an M.A. from the University of New South Wales in Sydney Australia and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law.  She grew up in New York and currently resides in Houston, Texas with her three sons.
