On April 27th, 2015, Loretta Lynch was sworn in as the first African-American Attorney General of the United States. Receiving both her bachelor’s and J.D. from Harvard, Lynch has worked on several high-profile cases, including United States vs. Volpe in which she successfully prosecuted officers who severely beat and sexually assaulted Haitian immigrant Abner Louima. Additionally, she has served as Special Counsel to the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and has conducted a special investigation into allegations of witness tampering and false testimony at the tribunal. Prior to returning to the United States Attorney’s Office in 2010, Lynch worked as a litigator at Cahill, Gordon & Reindel and as a partner at Hogan & Hartson L.L.P.
