On Wednesday, March 11th, from 8:00 to 9 AM, the Center for Women in Law hosted a thought-provoking one-hour panel discussion where esteemed judges shared their career journeys and advice for law students. It was moderated by former Chief Justice Marilyn Aboussie, Texas Court of Appeals, with Texas Supreme Court Justice Jane Bland and Texas Supreme Court Justice Debra Lehrmann. The event was held in the Eidman Courtroom with coffee and pastries afterwards. 

This course was  approved for Minimum Continuing Legal Education credit by the State Bar of Texas Committee on MCLE in the amount of 1.00 credit hours, including 0.00 credit hours that apply to legal ethics/professional responsibility credit.

The University of Texas School of Law is a State Bar of California approved MCLE provider (#1944), an Oklahoma Bar Association MCLE presumptively approved provider (#169), and a Pennsylvania Accredited Provider. Approved hours may vary by jurisdiction.

The Hon. Marilyn Aboussie

Former Chief Justice of the Court of Appeals for the Third District of Texas

Marilyn Aboussie was born June 9, 1948, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She graduated from public schools there and was admitted to the honors program at Midwestern [State] University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Government in three years and graduating in 1969.

Justice Jane Bland

Supreme Court of Texas

Jane Bland has served in the state judiciary for 25 years and on the Supreme Court of Texas since 2019. Before her service on the Court, she served 15 years as a justice on the First Court of Appeals and six years as a State District Judge.
