Described by one partner at a top law firm as “the most practical tool I’ve encountered in my 20 years of practicing,” the Women in Law Institute is an all-day, intensive workshop for law students, judicial clerks, and LL.M.’s. Participants can look forward to expert presentations on the essential skills for navigating a successful career in law: effective communication, self-promotion, and networking. Following each lecture, students work in small groups led by distinguished practitioners (3:1 ratio) to perfect these skills through practice and individualized critiques in a supportive environment.
Registration for the 2017 Women in Law Institute at Texas Law has closed.
Law Students, LL.M.s, and Judicial Clerks
All law students, LL.M.s, and judicial clerks are eligible for registration. Participants participated in all three workshops: (1) How to Communicate with Impact; (2) Demonstrate Your Value; and (3) Build Strategic Relationships.
Practitioners with 7 or more years experience
Registration is open to become a faculty member. What is a faculty member? A senior level practitioner who co-leads one or more of the small group workshops for the Institute. Practitioners will volunteer about 3-4 hours (1-hour training and 2-3 hours on the day of the event) per session. You may sign up for one, two or three sessions as your schedule permits. You will receive training on the goals of the workshop and how to critique the law students to improve their skills.
