On April 11, 2013 at the Four Seasons in Austin, TX, Professor Mahzarin R. Banaji, the foremost leader on the science behind unconscious thinking and feeling as they unfold in social context, led a sophisticated discussion on the research behind her new book, Blindspot: Hidden Biases of Good People.
Using the revolutionary test she co-developed (the Implicit Association Test), Professor Banaji demonstrated how subtle biases influence how we perceive our clients and witnesses, interact with other attorneys and judges and attempt to persuade juries. Her research shows that even on a day-to-day basis, biases affect how we make decisions on hiring, work distribution, evaluations, promotions, and layoffs.
Participants took part in an unforgettable examination of their own minds that will shape their interactions with others for years to come.
