Following decades of work in the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s legal community, Arleas Upton Kea, a Texas Law alumna, answered the call of then-Chairman Sheila Bair to head up the FDIC’s Division of Administration. When the economy collapsed in 2008, Arleas supervised a dramatic expansion of the agency. She increased staff by 4,000 employees and championed efforts to improve morale so as to equip the agency to meet new challenges head-on. Arleas discussed how to build a career in a federal agency.
The Center for Women in Law, through the October Power Lunch Series, seeks to highlight prominent women lawyers and other public figures from a wide range of career paths. Power Lunch attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss their own career goals in an informal and interactive environment.
