Hilda Galvan is a nationally recognized trial lawyer who focuses on complex intellectual property litigation. For over 20 years, Hilda has represented plaintiffs and defendants in federal and state courts across the country and in the International Trade Commission. She has served as lead counsel for IBM, Texas Instruments, and Essilor in the enforcement of their patent portfolios and in defending against allegations of infringement.
In 2016, Hilda was named a global IP leader by World IP Review. Hilda has led cross-border litigation matters involving courts in Europe, Asia, Texas, and the ITC. IAM Magazine identified Hilda as a “powerhouse litigator” and lauded her “extensive experience in big-ticket patent litigation.” She has litigated over 100 patent cases, with 50+ in the Eastern District of Texas.
Recent victories include a summary judgment of invalidity in favor of SAS in the Eastern District of Texas and invalidity decisions against several Intellectual Ventures patents. Chambers noted, in 2016, that Hilda is prized by clients for her ability to “bring experience and strategy” to IP disputes arising in the electronics and software sectors.
Hilda also places a high priority on community service. She serves on Board of Trustees, University of Texas School of Law, and the boards of Parkland Hospital Foundation and the Dallas Hispanic Law Foundation. Hilda was named one of "The Most Powerful Business Leaders" in Dallas-Fort Worth" by D-CEO and serves as Chair-Elect of the Dallas Regional Chamber. Hilda is Partner-in-Charge of the Dallas Office.
The Center for Women in Law, through the October Power Lunch Series, seeks to provide students with role models and mentors by exposing them to prominent women lawyers and other public figures from a wide range of career paths. Attending students had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss their own career goals in an informal and interactive environment.
