In 2013, Susan L. Blount, ’81, became a member of Prudential Financial, Inc.’s Office of the Chairman Group, the six senior-most officers of the company. She is responsible for overseeing the company’s Law, Compliance, Business Ethics and External Affairs departments. Susan joined Prudential in 1985 as an attorney in the company’s commercial real estate operations. Since then, she has held a variety of leadership positions, including vice president and secretary when the company demutualized in 2001 and chief counsel for the Investment Division. She assumed the role of general counsel in 2005 and was promoted to executive vice president in June 2013. Susan discussed what it takes to become an executive in a Fortune 100 company.
