In 1995, Hon. Micaela Alvarez was appointed by then Governor Bush to serve as a District Judge for the 139th Judicial District Court in Hidalgo County. Judge Alvarez was the first woman to sit as a District Judge in Hidalgo County.

CWIL hosted a screening of the award-winning documentary MISS REPRESENTATION in the Francis Auditorium (TNH 2.114) on September 20. The evening began with light refreshments followed by the screening at 6 pm.
